As explained in each year's benefit guide, please see below for determining if a part-time associate is eligible for medical benefits.
NEW EMPLOYEES HIRED TO WORK FULL-TIME: If you are hired as a new full-time employee (with a planned schedule of working on average 130 or more hours a month), you and your dependents are generally eligible for group health plan coverage after 30 days of employment.
NEW EMPLOYEES HIRED TO WORK A PART-TIME, VARIABLE HOUR, OR SEASONAL SCHEDULE: If you’re hired to work part-time, with hours that change, or for a seasonal job (6 months or less), we’ll track your hours for 12 months starting from the first day of the month after you’re hired. Benefits will be offered if, after 12 months, you’ve worked enough to qualify.
- If you average 130 hours or more per month during those 12 months, you’ll be considered full-time and eligible for benefits.
- If you are eligible for benefits and you choose to enroll in coverage, benefits will start once this 12-month period ends. Your full-time status will last for another 12 months after that.
- If you leave your job during a time when you have benefits, you may be able to continue your coverage subject to the rules of COBRA.
